Jodhpur is popularly known as “Suncity” and “Bluecity”. It is the second largest city of Rajasthan. It was the capital of Marwar previously under the rule of Maharaja. It is situated in the western Rajasthan which is popularly known as region of Thar Desert. It was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459. Currently Maharja Gaj Singh and his son Shivraj Singh is the member of this royal family and lives in the grand Umaid Palace. It has a large history to read about its forts, temples, regions, sweets, snacks, gardens, peoples etc.
Jodhpur
It is the largest city in western Rajasthan. It is surrounded by six major cities named Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Pali, Nagaur and Bikaner. Climate of city is hot and dry but it has some month of rainy season from July to September which is called monsoon season. Population is more than 10 Lakh according to Census 2011. It is not too much populated and density is not too much high according to its geographical area. National and State level government offices are also situated in the Jodhpur like CAZRI, ISRO RRSC-W Center, High Court, JDA, AFRI etc. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan Shri Ashok Gehlot is also from Jodhpur. The main city is situated near to fort and it is covered by walls and gates like Jalori Gate, Sojti Gate, Merti Gate, Sivanchi Gate etc. Jodhpur is hugely popular for Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Palace, Jaswanth Thada, Chamunda Mata Temple, Ghantaghar, Mandore Garden, Balsamand Lake and many more. There is an outdoor stadium in the city is called Barkatullah Khan Stadium. It hosted two one day international cricket match.

It is also famous for its handicraft sector. Handicraft is the major industry in Jodhpur. Today people use Jodhpur’s handicraft all around the world. Tourism is also a great industry. Tourist comes very frequently to Jodhpur to explore its fort, temples, beauty and food. Jodhpur Stone (Sand Stone) is also a world famous stone. Sandstone minning is the primary source of job in Jodhpur. You see lots of houses with stone art (Gadhai) in Jodhpur. It is a major city with the all transportation facilities like Railway, Air, Buses, Taxi and many more. It has a National Level AIIMS Hospital and IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) College. FM Radio, Aakashwani and Doordarshan services are also available in the city. It is famously known for its sweets and snacks like Mirchibada. It is the burger and Vadapav of suncity and people use it between the two breads and enjoy this delicious food. It is famous for movie location. Lots of English, Hindi and other language movies were filmed their like Kung Fu Yoga, Baadshaho, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Airlift, Shuddh Desi Romance etc.
