Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan State. Historically it was a region of Marwar. It is also known as Blue City and Sun City. It was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459. The climate of Jodhpur is hot and dry but it has a little rainy season too in monsoon period. Jodhpur is famous for its Sweets and Mirchibada (Sancks). Handicraft Items are the famous craft of Jodhpur and it is exported all over the world. It has lots of historical places to visit. All of them are full of interesting stories and facts which are very informative for visitors. Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jaswant Thada, Clock Tower and Toorji Ka Jhalra are some of them. Number of Gardens, Lakes, Temples like Mandore Garden, Balsamand Lake, Kaylana Lake, Pal Balaji Temple, Ganesh Temple, Masuriya Hills etc are good sights for visitors. Mehrangarh Fort is located in Jodhpur and it is very famous fort from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. It was built by Rao Jodha around in 1459. There are seven gates in Mehrangarh. All of them are a great history. There is a great museum in Fort which has lots of weapons, costumes and paintings. The Chamuda Mataji Temple also exists in the Fort and is worshipped by peoples of Jodhpur. She is the Isht Devi or Goddess of Jodhpur royal family. We will see great crowd during Dussehra celebrations. Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park exists near to fort. It has a ecological desert and vegetation. It has a plant nursery and cafe shop too. Jaswant Thada is a cenotaph (Samark in hindi) which was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the memory of his late father Maharaja Jaswant Singh. It is a monument in a white marble along with small lake and garden with lots of art and screens. It was built in 1899 and serves as the cremation ground for the royal family of marwar. It is very near to Mehrangarh Fort and every visitor should visit the brilliant art of Jodhpur. It is a very lovely marble architecture nearby mountains. A complete view of Jodhpur city is visible from that site. A very unique Umaid Palace is also visible from the site which gives a unique view of Jodhpur heritage.

Umaid Palace a great piece of art and it is located in Jodhpur. It is the world’s largest private residence. Jodhpur Royal family lives in this great umaid bhawan. A luxury hotel is also running in this palace which is managed by Taj Hotels. It have more than 300 rooms along with game courts, billiard room, swimming pool, library and private museum. It was built with a very helping purpose to employ the public of jodhpur during 1929 to 1943. It was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh. There are lots of vintage cars and royal items in the palace. Henry Lanchester was an architect of this great palace. Currently Gaj Singh II is living in this palace with his family.

Toorji Ka Jhalra is a Stepwell located in Jodhpur. It exists in inside old Jodhpur near to clock tower market. Basically it was a water storage system for drinking purpose in old time. Now days it is a kind of swimming pool for the local public. You will see lots of kids and people do swimming and jumping. There is no security system on the stepwell regarding swimming. Public and Kids do it on own risk. Police generally arrives for checking. Over the Stepwell there is a cafe which is full from visitors. We get good drink and snacks there and a full view of city too. Foreigners come to Toorji Ka Jhalra regularly. It is very good ancient stepwell and very famous for its staircase structure. Many photographers used to take photographs for so many purposes.

Clock tower is an old heritage structure which exists in a Jodhpur. Locally it is also known as Ghantaghar. It is a high crowd market. Normally all the nearby villagers come to this market for purchasing. It is near to sardar market where shopkeepers sell vegetables, sweets, garments, handicraft, textiles etc. A famous Mishrilal Lassi is also available in clock tower market. Lassi lovers used to come clock tower market to enjoy the lassi. It is a kind of flavoured milk liquid product which is very famous in Jodhpur. Foreigners come to this venue frequently. Lots of market exists near to clock tower like Tirpoliya market, Cycle Market, Machli Market etc. Many wholesale and retail shops exist there and sell garment, food items, cycles, wedding dresses etc.
